Country living is at its finest in Hartland. Residents enjoy access to many suburban amenities, but the area still has a small-town feel. The community has many events and activities throughout the year that unite families and allow residents to get to know their neighbors.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Over the last twenty years, Hartland's shopping district has grown into a thriving area with many national and local shopping and dining options. The Hartland shopping plaza is home to the Red Olive Restaurant, a Mediterranean establishment with a casual atmosphere, and El Cerro Grande Mexican Restaurant with a hip and fun feel that guests enjoy.

A regional favorite is Black Rock Bar and Grill; the Hartland location is the original, and residents enjoy being part of that history. The restaurant is a unique experience. Guest choose what meat they would like, from various steaks and seafood. However, instead of the chef cooking your food, you get to cook it on a rock heated to 755 degrees. The restaurant's vibrant atmosphere, unique cooking, and fantastic food create a memorable experience.

For the perfect gift or home accessory, That's What She Shed Boutique is the place to shop. The selection of unique home goods, accessories, and beauty products will impress any giftee. The boutique also offers various classes that teach how to make soaps, sugar scrubs, lotions, and lip balms.

Things to Do

Hartland residents enjoy access to many amenities that are generally tough to come by in a small town. Its location on U.S. 23 has allowed a shopping and entertainment district to develop south of town that provides many activities for residents. The Emagine Theater is where residents go to catch a movie and relax. The theater has stadium-style seating with oversized recliners and cuddle chairs. In addition, they offer a full-service concession stand with classic popcorn and pop, stone-fired pizza, and soft pretzel bites.

The Hartland Music Hall is known throughout the region as a premier event venue. The historic Hall is available for weddings, recitals, and other private events. The Cromaine Library is another local gem with various programs available to residents; enjoy the summer concert series, Harry Potter camp, or family storytime. The Florence Deering Museum is a historic landmark that honors a librarian, Florence Deering, who collected memorabilia from the Hartland area to create a history collection.

Spicer Orchards is a local orchard and winery with a large farmers' market. They have pick-your-own fruits, hot donuts, fudge, and cider sampling. Each fall, the orchard comes to life; the 5K Pumpkin Run takes place in September and draws participants from all over the state. There is also a wine and harvest festival and corn maze.

For 87 years, the town has gathered at the end of May for the Memorial Day Parade. The festivities include a ceremony at the cemetery, a memorial day run/walk, and a pancake breakfast.
